After a hugely successful third series of Blankety Blank, which aired in the autumn of 2023, Thames (a Fremantle label) today announces the recommission of two further series, for BBC One and iPlayer.

Both series, each with 10 episodes, will be hosted once again by one of the nation’s most beloved presenters, Bradley Walsh. In each episode Bradley will be joined by six big name celebrities who will be helping four contestants try to win some of telly’s most ‘unique’ prizes. All that stands in the way is a series of statements with missing BLANKS. Contestants just need to fill in the blanks and if their answer matches those of the celebrities’, they’re in with a chance of taking home the goods, which can vary anywhere from an inflatable hot tub to a garden shed. And for those not lucky enough to make it all the way, there is of course the iconic consolation prize, the Blankety Blank cheque book and pen.

Watched by audiences of up to 4.1m viewers and regularly the most watched show in its time slot, the third series of Blankety Blank included big guest names such as Alison Hammond, Babatunde Aleshe, Rob Beckett, Sue Perkins and Rylan Clark. Viewers can expect to see more well-known stars take to the panel and more hilarious responses to seemingly simple missing BLANKS.

Since its initial launch in 1979, Blankety Blank continues to be a staple show in the schedules, with the revamped series bringing in brand-new audiences to the much-loved format.

Speaking on the recommission, Bradley Walsh said: “I tell you what, there isn’t a show quite like Blankety Blank – it’s absolutely brilliant fun from start to finish. The celebrities will come up to me after a record and tell me how much fun they had filming, but more importantly, so do the contestants. These wonderful people come on to the show wanting a great experience and boy do they get it – because let’s be honest, they’re not there for the prizes are they?!”

Charlie Irwin, Managing Director of Thames (a Fremantle label), said: “It’s been a huge privilege to be part of the team in charge of bringing Blankety Blank to new audiences.  We are thrilled with how it’s been received and are so excited to make more for the BBC.   We genuinely love this show and filming it is an absolute joy.”

Blankety Blank is a Thames (a Fremantle label) production for BBC One and was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment. The Executive Producer for Thames is Christopher Barbour and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Clodagh O’Donoghue.
